"Covering President Donald Trump at CPAC: Notes From a Former Political Consultant"
Opinion - Outspoken - Dr. Naomi Wolf
From Dr. Naomi Wolf:
"This is one of those 'essays I fear to write.' I fear that those who are passionate admirers of President Trump will take umbrage at my notes about his recent speech at CPAC; and that those who are appalled at the mere mention of his name, will be even angrier at me than they usually are — as in this essay I treat him seriously as a Presidential candidate."

Hi Naomi, you wrote an honest review of Pres. Trump’s speech- no need to fear reactions or hatred-at least not from those of us who are rational. In fact, in your critique, you are not trying to disparage him- you are actually trying to help him.
I was also at CPAC for his speech, and even as a huge supporter of Pres. Trump, it was clear his speech lacked organization- among other things.
His speech was appealing for those of us who are already in his camp, because it had the feeling of a conversation with him in his living room. He joked, we laughed; he openly shared his past experiences and he did so with the infinite wisdom of someone who has been around the block a time or two. We love the way he speaks to us, he speaks honestly and frankly says what everyone else is thinking- but does not have the guts to say. It is almost nostalgic for us.
However, as you said, it is important to remember he is not just speaking to those of us already in his camp. As a historian, I love your historical references and everything you said is right on.
For those not in his camp, his anecdotal stories and jokes seem haphazard at best, a form of braggadocio verging on the ridiculous.
I do not know how we can bridge this gap- I’m at a loss- other than people like yourself who understand where both sides are coming from. YOU can help him!
But what I do know is we have to find a way to explain to the American public that whether or not they like the way he speaks- he is our best bet- in fact, right now he is our only hope of continuing our lifestyle and our culture as we know it.
As you said, he is a bully, but he is OUR bully, and if we don’t have a bully on our side, it won’t be long before we are subjected to the bullys of the rest of the world. That won’t be nearly as pleasant.
Have you spoken to a few people about perhaps making some recommendations for Pres. Trump’s future speeches?
We need your help and eloquence!
Don't be afraid. The truthers can handle it and will stand with you. Those who are "woke" , "willfully overlook knowledge of evil." Just because they willfully overlook knowledge of evil doesn't mean we have to be silent in their presence. Silence in the presence of evil is participation. And who knows, you might cause some to awaken and turn from that way and have a new and better life!
